Hi,



I would like to ask if there are any legalities/permits needed if our Mapua High Batch 98 would like to put up a website and forum for our batch and to all who will be interested in participating in it. We want to know if it is legal if we are going to use the Mapua Logos and anything related to our beloved school on the said website and forum. The purpose of this is for easy communication amongst our batchmates and to relive and cherish our memories back then as our 10th yr anniversary will be next year. We hope to get a response regarding this matter. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Cuartero,

Following is the answer of our legal adviser re: the website you intend to put:





There is no legal issue in the use of:



The defunct Mapua High logo;
All references to the former HS;


for so long as:

a) it is clearly identified that the same is in reference to Mapua High Batch 1998, its plans, activities, notices etc.;

b) no derogatory, insulting or libelous remarks are made in reference to the Institute itself, its officers, former and present owners,

related entities etc. including MHSS, or any other person or entity, whether related to MAPUA or not;

c) it is a website and message board meant to be accessible exclusively to Batch 1998 members.



I cannot spell out all the rules and regulations since, as you know, we cannot police everything that happens in cyberspace.

But I trust the sound and mature judgment of our alumni as to what should be proper content.

In other words, we assume the good faith of all the members of the said batch in putting up the website.

The message board i made can be viewed by everyone who can search for it or see it on the web as guests, that cannot be controlled, but membership will be exclusive for MITHS batch 1998 and only members can participate on our discussions for now. We plan on letting other batches to be a member in the future but with restrictions and only for the purpose of communication with them this will include announcements and opinions from individual members but we will do our best to keep it moderated.
